Nestled in 290 acres of Michigan 'Country,' a quiet, secluded retreat with 200 modern campsites and a mini-cabin. 133 acre lake of clear, deep water with great fishing. Enjoy swimming at our 300' sandy beach or launch your boat at the paved ramp, hike trails of rolling wooded hills from 6 to 70 miles long! Horseshoe courts, playgrounds, picnic areas. Trailhead for Clear Lake/Jackson Lake Pathway. Nearby access to ORV and snowmobile trails. Camping April - November. Metal detecting area. Clear Lake State Park is pleased to announce that this summer season canoes, kayaks and rowboats are available to rent at both parks. These boats will be available for full-day and half-day rentals.
Nature of the Area
The 48.5-mile scenic drive afford an opportunities to see deer, elk, black bear, snowshoes hare, fox, coyote, racoon, squirrel, ruffed grouse, bald eagle, loon and great blue heron. The fall season with the changing colors is an especially beautiful time to view the area.
Passes
The Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into state parks and recreation areas, state boat launches, state forest campgrounds and state trail parking lots. Swimming
A sandy beach and shallow swimming areas make this an ideal location for swimming.
Boating
Two paved launch sites provide access to the spring-fed lake.

Clear Lake is renting boats in 2009! Canoes, kayaks and rowboats. Call 989-785-4388.
Fishing
The 133-acre Clear Lake is spring fed and has a depth of 100 feet. A variety of fish species have been planted and the lake is excellent for trout and smallmouth bass.

Bicycling
The Canada Creek trail loop provides about four miles of mountain biking opportunities in addition to nearby forest pathways. The trails are shared with hikers in the park.
Cross-country Skiing
From the park there is access to more than 70 miles of trails suitable for cross-country skiing.
Area Attractions
Mackinaw State Forest Clear Lake State Park is located within the Mackinaw State Forest. This State Forest is composed of the northern eight counties of the Lower Peninsula. The Atlanta area of this forest contains over 258,000 acres of state-owned public land. Most of the virgin timber was removed from the forest by the 1920s and has been replaced by second-growth forests managed by the DNR. Deer, elk, turkey and small game are plentiful in the Mackinac State Forest. Hunting is allowed in the State Forest during the approved seasons.Elk Sightings- Elk can be seen and heard throughout the area in the early morning and evening, especially during the spring and fall. Native elk disappeared from Michigan nearly 100 years ago, they were reintroduced in 1918 and have multiplied into a large herd.

park review stars; one to five The park was great for our family. We camped with a pop up and the lots were good size. Beach was very clean and the water is crystal clear. Fishing was good.

park review stars; one to five My family has gone to this park every year, for 6 years in a row. We love it there because there is planty to do for the whole family. The only downside is that 2 of my kids go swimmers itch. Other than that it was great.
