LITTLE BEAVER STATE PARK
Little Beaver State Park provides enjoyment for the entire family.
The park serves as a day use park to the local population of the southern region of West Virginia and as a day visit for guests lodging at nearby WV State Parks and Resorts.
Nestled in the scenic Appalachian foothills, visitors can enjoy fishing at a 18-acre lake stocked with various fish species. Anglers often catch largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish amidst tranquil surroundings. A valid West Virginia fishing license is required for those aged 15 and older. The park offers boat rentals but prohibits gas motors; electric trolling motors are allowed for a serene angling experience.

Beaver Creek Trail - Many seasonal wildflowers and a stand of virgin pine and oak are features of this half-mile trail that encircles a portion of Beaver Creek. The trail runs above the lake.
Billy Goat's Gruff - This is a challenging bike trail full of rocks and steep inclines. It is an extreme .6 mile challenge.
Creek Bed - A moderate .4 mile of wooded trail for bikers and hikers.
Deer Loop - This .4 mile of trail connects Deer Trail with Nature's Ridge. It is an easy to moderate wooded trek with a natural view.
Deer Trail - An open trail with .8 miles of changing terrain. The trail changes from an open field to a steep wooded incline.
Laurel Creek Crossing - This trail is 1.75 miles and is the second longest trail in the park. It follows the park boundary along Country Club Road and is an easy to moderate walk with changing scenery.
Nature Ridge - This trail has an incline, sometimes steep, that follows the ridge above the lake. It is .8 miles.
Railroad Grade - This trail is .9 miles long. The scenery ranges from deep woods to open meadows.
Rhododendron Run - This trail is 2.1 miles long, which makes it the longest in the park. It follows the park boundary with extreme terrain challenges to bikers and hikers.
Topper's Ridge - This rocky trail is .6 miles long. It is considered to be a moderate to extreme trail for bikers.
When considering cycling in the park, it's important to be aware of trail conditions and difficulty levels. The Lake Trail offers a scenic ride around the water but can have uneven terrain; caution is advised. For those seeking more challenge, Beaver Creek Trail presents technical features that require advanced skills.
Riders should always wear helmets and check their equipment before hitting any path for safety reasons. It's also wise to carry a map as some trails may not be clearly marked at every junction.
Keep an eye on weather forecasts too - sudden changes can make paths slippery or hazardous quickly. Lastly, respect other visitors by yielding appropriately and maintaining reasonable speeds especially when visibility is limited on winding sections or during dusk hours.
