215 site campground located on canal between Lakes Mitchell & Cadillac. Modern facilities, electricity and dumping station, sandy beaches for swimming. Both lakes are noted as fine walleye fisheries. Boating is available with launching facilities on both lakes. Easy hiking on The Heritage Nature Trail, 2.5 miles in length, mostly a woodchip path with bridges and boardwalks. Trails are groomed for cross-country skiing. The visitor center displays hunting & fishing exhibits. Open all year. Metal detecting area.
Passes
The Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into state parks and recreation areas, state boat launches, state forest campgrounds and state trail parking lots. Visitors Center
Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center It is located in the park and is a great attraction for visitors of all ages. The center is open year-round and has interpretive displays, seminars, audio-visual presentations and workshops for visitors to enjoy.

Swimming
Sandy beaches are available in the campground and in the day-use areas.
Boating
There are boat launch facilities on Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell which allow easy access to water sports and fishing activity.
Fishing
Lakes Mitchell and Cadillac are noted as fine walleye fisheries. The 1,150-acre Lake Cadillac is an extremely popular attraction and anglers can expect good catches of perch, walleye, panfish and bass. The quarter-mile canal that connects the two lakes is a popular place for children to shore fish in the park, and in the evening, many fish for bullheads.

Day Use Area
The day-use area, located on Lake Mitchell, has a sandy beach, a boat launch and playground equipment.

Play equipment is located in the campground and in the day-use areas of the park.
Picnicking
Mitchell State Park offers picnic tables, fire pits and grills. A pavilion is available for rent for larger gatherings.
Trails
The Heritage Nature Trail starts at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center and is about 2.5 miles in length. The trail is actually a study area that supports a variety of plants and wildlife, including whitetail deer, wild turkeys, beavers, great blue heron and other species of waterfowl. The trail is mostly a woodchip path with bridges and boardwalks for an easy hike around the wetland areas.

Bicycling
The park offers multiple trails suitable for biking, with varying degrees of difficulty.

Biking is permitted on all roads within the area.

For a challenging ride, try the 2-mile Heritage Nature Trail which has some steep sections and sharp turns.

Remember to always wear your helmet when cycling in this location due to safety concerns over uneven terrain or sudden obstacles.

Be aware that certain paths may be shared by hikers; exercise caution while riding these routes.

During winter months, bike usage might not be possible because of snowfall so check weather conditions beforehand.

Note: Bikes are prohibited from entering designated nature areas as they can disrupt local wildlife habitats.
Area Attractions
There are several local festivals that are held throughout different times of year. There is a Snowmobile Festival, Art Festival, Northern District Fair, and a Free Fishing Weekend. Also, large parcels of U.S. Forest Service and State Forest lands that allow seasonal hunting are located close to the park.

park review stars; one to five Wonderfully located park set on two lakes! The canal is a nice spot to sit and watch the boats. Campground is very clean, and staff was great.
