1. P J Hoffmaster State Park offers a beautiful sandy beach for swimming on Lake Michigan.
2. Lifeguards are not provided, so swim at your own risk.
3. The park's three-mile shoreline provides ample space to enjoy the water and sunbathe.
4. Swimming is allowed during daylight hours only; night-time swimming is prohibited by law in all state parks of Michigan.
5. Restrooms and changing facilities are available near the beach area for convenience after swimming activities.
Enjoy fishing in the freshwater lake, home to species like Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike. The park's river also offers opportunities for catching Steelhead and Salmon. Anglers can fish from shore or use a boat at designated areas.

The terrain varies greatly throughout the journey and includes both flat sections as well as steep hills.
Riders should be cautious of sandy areas which may make cycling more challenging in certain parts of the trail.
It's recommended for bikers to wear helmets due to uneven surfaces and potential obstacles on trails.
During peak seasons, cyclists must share paths with hikers; therefore, respectful riding practices are encouraged.
Also remember that biking is not allowed on all trails within the park - check signage before proceeding.
Lastly, there aren't any bike rental facilities available onsite so visitors need bring their own equipment.
The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 338 species recorded. It features a variety of habitats including forests, dunes and wetlands attracting different types of birds. Birdwatchers can explore the three-mile nature trail or visit the Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center for educational exhibits on local avifauna. The spring migration period is particularly popular among enthusiasts.
