Summers of Joy - I first spent the summer of 1934 in the park, and spent every summer until 1950. My father designed a canvas cabin and we would go up Memorial Day and come home on Labor Day. Dad worked at Western Electric in Cicero Illinois, and he had vacation last 2 weeks in July and first week in August. He would come up and spend that time with us, and we would go fishing etc. During the summer we would pick cherries at 5 cents a bucket. We would have to pick at least two buckets to go to Ephraim to the movies and have popcorn and a drink. The movie was shown at the city hall and was a big treat for us. We would hitchhike to Ephraim and usually someone would drive you back to camp. There was a trail from Nicolet Bay to below the tower. We would have what was called a slumgulion, every one would bring a can of fruit and we would put it in a bucket and then everyone would get a can back. some times it was good. This September I will be visiting and reliving my wonderful time spent here. It is on my bucket list
