our first big mountain - we live in the east (Kentucky) and big horn was our first mountain we had experienced and scared us . yes we have been to the smokies and w.va. but never in our life such a massive no railing on the side experienceas that mountain . LOL it was awesome and I want to visit again .
Interesting geographical territory. - This canyon is beautiful, and the description is accurate. We found the roads somewhat difficult, requiring caution, but not impassable. Please do give phonetic name of river. Thank you
Put this on your bucket list! - We did fall hikes and were BLOWN AWAY!! Yes, some trails were so easy there were more people there than I care for but, the views were worth it all!! I could be most happy living the rest of my days in those mountains!
- Trying to find out any information about Glendo is like pulling teeth. They never answer the phone. Does anyone know if they have any reservable tent camping sites? Or are they pretty much all first come? I see the electric hookup sites for rvs are reservable.
Total Solar Eclipse in awesome park - What a treat to enjoy a total solar eclipse in a place like this. Beautiful flowers, very enjoyable hot springs in the bathhouse, interesting hikes. And the dinosaur museum close by is definitively worth a visit.
Liars, shame on the Park Employees! - Plan on them keeping your deposit saying you left the yurt dirty. Not only did we clean it, we cleaned it better than we found it. They lied and said we left grass in the yurt yet their was a foot of snow outside. Not one blade of grass exposed. Please go somewhere else to camp or expect to pay more than you should.
best managed park in wy - Just stayed at buffalo bill-had another camper break into car...WOW, what a tight ship that is run here! Camp host greets all campers, and keeps a visual presence in the park-if you desire safety this is your camp. Also, they require you to fill out slip to camp so they have an idea of who is in the park...Buffalo Bill park does a checkmark, with no verification AT ALL of who you are....I WILL BE BACK HERE WHENEVER I CAMP IN WY
Great year round get-away - Always glad to have park ranger stop by for chat. Glendo is close place to get away for few hrs or few days. Kids have great memories of fun Summer camping times & rules were observed! We think it unfair that one vehicle will set up 2 or 3 tents in adjacent campsites to save for friends who come later days for weekend. Rules are there for a reason.
- The park itself is kept in great condition!
The TeePee pool is yet not so good the facility is unclean, mold in the showers the locker rooms need to be redone! The out side pool is cleaned only once a week and the second week it just plain stinks!
Something needs to be done to rectify the problems! Why was the lease extended only to have the same problems as in the past?
one of the nations best - I have gone to Medicine Bow national Forest pretty much every year since I was six ( 45 now) . I LOVE IT. I go camping in Nash fork Campground, fish in mirror lake and lake marie. I dont go on many trails as I am in a wheelchair and hiking mountain trails is difficult for me. The one thing I dont like which seems to be opposite of most people posting are all the ORVs and ATVs that are being allowed in the park. It is usually very calm and quiet which is why I go there, but when I hear all the racket from the ORVs and ATVs it makes me feel as if I never left the city.Overall I LOVE this place and would recommend it to anyone.
