January 16 childhood memories at its best by Ken Midgett
Gods country. Having grown up in Dare Co. and cutting my teeth on Milltail Creek and those logging roads with my Grandfather Ken Ward, it is refreshing to see the area much as it looked to me almost fifty years ago. The most peaceful place on earth.
July 26 Red wolves! by Bigcatone
Went there last fall, hoping to see red wolves, and was not disapointed! Three crossed a trail about 100 yards ahead of us.Also saw deer, wild pigs, and gators..And numerous bear tracks!! Pileated woodpeckers screamed at us from everywhere, and the other birdlife was spectacular, including a bald eagle that allowed us to approach within 50 feet before taking off.Wildlife abounds here, a magnificant adventure!

August 26 Best Kayaking by H.Trautman
I kayaked the river in August with my dad and it was my favorite part of our vacation. We went to the bay and back and saw three gators. Two surficed and hit our kayak (about four footers) and another (about 8ft.) came out from under the shack on the river and could have easliy tipped our kayak. We followed it the whole way to the bay while keeping about 30ft between us and the gator.
June 2 Wahoo
September, we spent 4 days exploring everything we could by Kayak. Saw numerous alligators, snakes etc.A mother bear and cub dashed in front of us, they were both soaking wet.Went wheeling around the refuge on the dirt roads ( as far as we could) and we saw tons of wild life. Excellent place to kayak. If you make it to the bay be prepared for a serious head wind all the way back up the river.
April 23 Beautiful pristine wetland bogs by PamelaP
Went hiking and kayaking here in May. Red maple seeds still on trees and grasses just starting to send up green shoots. Beautiful. Also saw an alligator sunning itself.
