The Town of Elmore is located in the southeastern part of Lamoille County in northeastern Vermont. It is bounded by Wolcott, Worcester, Woodbury, and Morristown. The Town, as granted, contains 23,040 acres (approximately 36 square miles). About half the area is suited for productive forestation and the remainder is harmonious to good dairy farming.

Lake Elmore is 219 acres, and lies northwest of the village and empties into the Lamoille River through Pond Brook. Elmore Mountain is in the "Hogback Range" and its timber is mostly hardwood. The mountain is also located in the northwest part of town and has an elevation of 2,608 feet.

The park had its beginning in 1936 when the town of Elmore and local citizens made a gift of 30 acres on Lake Elmore to the state of Vermont. With modest means, a picnic and beach area were created. Today, with more than 700 acres, Elmore State Park has become a conspicuous, developed recreation facility.
Swimming
1. Elmore State Park offers a sandy beach for swimming on Lake Elmore.
2. Lifeguards are typically present during the summer season.
3. Swimming is allowed from sunrise to sunset in designated areas only.
4. The park provides changing rooms and restrooms near the swim area for convenience.
5. Canoes, kayaks, paddleboards can be rented at the lake if you prefer water sports over traditional swimming.
6. There's also a grassy picnic area nearby where swimmers can relax or have lunch after their swim session.

Fishing
Enjoy fishing in a 219-acre lake, home to species like yellow perch, smallmouth bass and northern pike. Ice-fishing is popular during winter months. Fishing equipment rentals are available on-site for convenience. The park also offers boat access for anglers.

Picnicking
Elmore State Park offers picnic areas with grills, a beach area for picnicking and lake views. No alcohol is allowed.
Bicycling
Biking options are limited, as the park primarily offers hiking trails. Be mindful of pedestrians and wildlife.

Mountain biking isn't permitted on these paths due to their narrow nature and steep inclines.

The Lake Loop is a popular choice for casual cyclists seeking scenic views without challenging terrain.

However, it's important to note that this trail can be crowded during peak hours or seasons.

Always wear protective gear when cycling in any area with uneven surfaces or potential obstacles like roots and rocks.

Remember: respect other visitors by keeping noise levels low while enjoying your ride through Vermont's natural beauty.
