P. H. Hoeft State Park is located 5 miles 8.0 km north of Rogers City, Michigan USA, on US 23 in Presque Isle County. The Huron Sunrise Trail bicycle path connects the park to Rogers City.

Heavily wooded 300 acre park on with a mile of sandy, Lake Huron shoreline with small sand dunes. We have 144 modern campsites and a mini cabin. P.H. Hoeft State Park Offers a Sears Roebuck Lodge for rent. Amenities include a refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Linens/towels are supplied along with dishware, utensils, pots, pans, bakeware, a Weber grill, (charcoal not provided) a fire pit (wood for sale in the park) and a picnic table. Guests are expected to clean the lodge prior to their departure. Excellent swimming area and a close view of Great Lakes shipping traffic from beach. Spacious, lakefront view picnic shelter with split-stone fireplace available. Our 4 1/2 miles of hiking trails are groomed for skiing in the winter. Metal detecting area.
History of the Area
This was one of the first 14 Michigan State Parks. The original property was donated by lumber baron, Paul H. Hoeft on January 2, 1922.
Passes

Swimming
A beautiful sandy beach on Lake Huron for sun bathing and swimming within 100 yards of modern campground.
Boating
The park, located in Michigan, offers a variety of boating options for visitors. It is equipped with a boat launch that allows easy access to Lake Huron's waters where one can enjoy sailing or motorized boating. Canoeing and kayaking are also popular activities due to the calm water conditions ideal for paddling sports. However, it should be noted that personal watercrafts like jet skis are not allowed within certain areas designated as swimming zones.
Fishing
Located on Lake Huron, the park offers ample fishing opportunities. Anglers can catch species like perch, walleye and northern pike. The 300-foot pier is a popular spot for casting lines. Ice fishing is also available during winter months.

Day Use Area
Two playgrounds available, one in the day use area and one in the campground. Two horseshoe pits are also available, one located in the day use and one in the campground. Horseshoes are available at the contact station. Two volleyball pits are available in the campground beach area.
Picnicking
Fire pits/grills available. The picnic shelter provides a beautiful view of Lake Huron and can be rented by calling 989-734-2543. This building was built in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It is a log and stone building featuring a beautiful setting for weddings, family reunions, etc.
Cross-country Skiing
A total of 4.5 miles of trails running through gently rolling, mixed hardwood/conifer forest as well as along the Lake Huron shoreline. Trails are not groomed.
Bicycling
A 10-foot wide paved non-motorized trail starts in the day use area and connects at the park entrance to the Huron Sunrise Trail. It stretches to Rogers City riding along the beach next to Lake Huron and ends at Calcite Limestone Quarry, the world's largest open pit limestone mine. This trail also connects to Herman Vogler Conservation Area which includes seven miles of hiking and biking trails.

The park features 4.5 miles of trails running through gently rolling, mixed hardwood/conifer forest as well as along the Lake Huron shoreline. There are many wildflowers to view, especially in the spring.

Birding
The park offers a variety of birding opportunities with over 300 species spotted. It features diverse habitats including forest, wetland and beach areas which attract different types of birds. Bird watchers can spot warblers during spring migration or waterfowl in the fall season along Lake Huron's shoreline. The park also provides nesting sites for rare Kirtland's Warbler and Piping Plover.
Area Attractions
The park is a convenient stop over or staging area for travelers planning activities in the Straits area. The Mackinac Bridge is 50 miles northwest via US-23. Bicyclists can use the bike trail to Rogers City just 4.5 miles away.
