TURTLE RIVER STATE PARK
Constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this park is located in a wooded valley along the meandering Turtle River. The park features year-round recreational activities, including camping, picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and sledding. Anglers can also practice their fly fishing techniques in the trout-stocked river. Anglers can enjoy fishing in the river, with species including rainbow trout and brown trout. Ice fishing is also popular during winter months. A stocked pond offers additional opportunities for catching these fish varieties. Fishing equipment rentals are available on-site as well.

2. There are three reservable shelters ideal for group picnics, equipped with electricity and close to restrooms.
3. Picnickers can enjoy scenic views of the river while dining outdoors in designated areas within this woodland setting.
4. The Agassiz Lodge provides indoor seating options if weather is unfavorable, complete with a fireplace and kitchen facilities.
The park offers a diverse range of bird species, ideal for avid bird watchers. It's home to over 100 different types of birds including warblers, sparrows and woodpeckers. Birding trails are available with interpretive signs providing information about the various species found in the area. The best time for bird watching is during spring migration or early summer when many birds nest within the park.

I find this park a relaxing place to just spend time with nature! You can hike trails, roadways or just wander around, you never know what might cross your path and just get a chance to see nature at its best. This spring alone for me lots of birds, mink, fawn, deer, beaver, squirrels, rabbits, frogs, hawks....just take time and enjoy them!
The staff is very friendly and will to help andnaswer questions and can always run into nice folks to chat with....its close by and with gas so highreally makes the best place to just take a break for a hike, walk, biking, a picnic and camping....
