TYGART LAKE STATE PARK
Paramount to the park, nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in scenic North Central West Virginia, is the 1,740-acre lake. Built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1938, the park today boasts many features and facilities suited to the outdoor adventurer, family-ready for a quiet getaway, business group or small conference. Tygart Lake State Park is the perfect spot for your next family reunion.
Cabins Tygart Lake State Park offers 11 modern vacation cottages. Modern in design, the wood-paneled cabins feature fireplaces, electric and propane heat, modern kitchens and baths, and are completely furnished for housekeeping with cooking utensils, dishes, linens, towels and blankets.
Cabins can be reserved by the day, and two day minimum on weekends, from mid-April to the second Monday in June and from Labor Day until early January. Starting the second Monday in June, cabins are rented by the week only.
Campground Tygart Lake State Park Campground is open from mid-April through October weather permitting. Our campground offers fourteen electric sites and twenty-six standard sites for a total of forty camping sites.
Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Water is located at the center of the campground and the sewage dumping station is located nearby. The centrally located bathhouse offers hot showers and toilets for campers. Reservations are not taken for the campground, all sites are on a first come first-served basis. Bagged ice and firewood are for sale at the check-in station.
Lodge Rooms
Perched on a promontory overlooking the lake, Tygart Lake lodge has 17 wood-paneled guest rooms featuring two double beds, color television, air conditioning and telephone with voice mail.We also offer 3 executive suites which feature 32" color televisions, dvd/vcr players, air conditioning, and sliding doors to a private deck overlooking the lake. One suite features two queen beds while two suites feature a king size bed and sleeper sofa.
Swimming is offered in the roped off beach area monitored by a staff of lifeguards.
Boats can be rented from the marina. They offer fishing boats, pontoon boats, and slip rentals by the hour, 1/2 day or full day(s). Call the marina directly for rates and reservations. 304-265-3974.
Anglers can enjoy year-round fishing on the lake, with options for boat and shore casting. Common catches include walleye, bass (smallmouth and largemouth), crappie, perch, catfish, and muskellunge. The park also features a marina with rental boats available to visitors seeking deeper waters or specific spots known for good bites. Ice fishing is popular during winter months when conditions are safe. Fishing tournaments occur seasonally attracting sport fishers from various locations.
